*Today’s post is yesterdays news as I am a day ahead of my blog postings. ie When Day 2 blog is released I am actually going through Day 3 and so on
Before I begin the Juice Feasting program from Joanne Gero, www.vibealive.ca, I must jot down my starting statistics so I can track how my body reacts to the Juice Feasting program. As with my Training and Nutrition business, everything is about the numbers.
Body Weight: 207.4lbs
Body Fat (scale measurement): 9.9%BF
As you can see from the photo I am already rather lean despite what my body fat reading was from the scale measurement. I am not worried about dropping weight during the next 10 days. Losing body fat or weight in general is not the goal or purpose for taking part in the Juice Feast. I can feel that my body is not digesting food properly and in turn has caused me to lose some muscle mass that I once carried. That being said though, since transitioning to a Raw Vegan lifestyle I have cleared a lot of the mucus from my muscles which has left them looking quite flat and stringy. Trust me, I know what I look like and if you have known me over the years you know that even though I am not a mass monster I was definitely bigger than I am today.
My main focus over the next ten days is to give my body a major reset, to cleanse and detox from within while re-energizing my cells and tissues. The Juice Feast program is just the start of my body revolution as the period that follows will be just as important and that is where you will see the greatest change in my body on the outside. I will be able to digest and use the nutrients I put into my body much more efficiently allowing me to increase mass, strength and performance.
Morning routine as outlined in Day 1 entry consisting of sipping on 24 ounces of fresh lemon juice and water while I write in my journal.
Feeling like SUPERMAN today! I woke up this morning and was immediately ready to go. I went through 40 minutes of yoga and felt completely rejuvenated. Usually when I awake my thoracic spine is quite sore and rather tight. I have ignored this pain as either being caused from my bed or the previous days workout or the fact that I am getting older…but it looks as though it may be from the build up of toxins in my body. Time will tell on this one!
THE STOOL CORNER
Four bowel movements today….can you believe it…I know I can’t. Four WOW!
Strength Training workout today with my 24kg kettlebell. I continued with my complex workout today as I want to see how much energy I do have in comparison to the last day I did this workout before starting the Juice Feast. The workout is as follows,
Kettlebell Complex using one 24kg KB
6 sets (3 sets right arm, 3 sets left arm) x 6 reps each exercise, 90 seconds rest between sets.
Swing–>Snatch–>Clean & Press–>Overhead Reverse Lunge–>Single Arm Bent Over Row
After the second set (1 set on each arm) I was starting to doubt myself as I felt my strength was not up to complete the entire workout. I hung in there and low and behold I willed my way through it and did the exact same poundage in the same amount of minutes as I did before the feast! I followed this up with some KB Windmills and some Triceps work and then hopped on the treadmill for 8 sets of sprints (20 sec on-40 sec off). Woohaa!
After my workout I refueled with some juice and a tbsp of Bee Pollen for extra amino acids and then trained a few clients of mine. Later on a strolled up to see my massage therapist again for the second time this week. I had felt a little knot starting behind my right shoulder blade while I was foam rolling today so I had her work on that along with continuing the treatment on cleaning up my hips.
Another wicked day in the books. I still can’t believe I had four bowel movements in one day. I am really looking forward to stating the next phase of my body revolution and having the food I eat really work for me because it will get fully digested and absorbed this time around.
Have a great day everyone!
7 days down, 3 to go!
