Before I begin the Juice Feasting program from Joanne Gero, www.vibealive.ca, I must jot down my starting statistics so I can track how my body reacts to the Juice Feasting program. As with my Training and Nutrition business, everything is about the numbers.
Body Weight: 207.4lbs
Body Fat (scale measurement): 9.9%BF
As you can see from the photo I am already rather lean despite what my body fat reading was from the scale measurement. I am not worried about dropping weight during the next 10 days. Losing body fat or weight in general is not the goal or purpose for taking part in the Juice Feast. I can feel that my body is not digesting food properly and in turn has caused me to lose some muscle mass that I once carried. That being said though, since transitioning to a Raw Vegan lifestyle I have cleared a lot of the mucus from my muscles which has left them looking quite flat and stringy. Trust me, I know what I look like and if you have known me over the years you know that even though I am not a mass monster I was definitely bigger than I am today.
My main focus over the next ten days is to give my body a major reset, to cleanse and detox from within while re-energizing my cells and tissues. The Juice Feast program is just the start of my body revolution as the period that follows will be just as important and that is where you will see the greatest change in my body on the outside. I will be able to digest and use the nutrients I put into my body much more efficiently allowing me to increase mass, strength and performance.
Okay, on to my journal.
I woke up and had my glass of freshly squeezed lemon and purified water. This will be a daily ritual as it has been for years now and forever will be. As I sip my juice I also take this time to write in my daily journal. This started out as an actor exercise for me but when my mom passed it turned into a much more of a therapeutic vehicle. I am able to reflect, recognize what I am grateful for and manifest the things I want to come.
Next, I did 30 minutes of Yoga. Yoga is a new thing for me as I normally head to the gym in my condo for some cardio and TSN Sportscentre.
I now juiced my first meal. I was able to start experimenting with different juices a few weeks before so I already know what fruits and vegetables I really like. However, there are many of both that I have bought to incorporate a large variety of flavours and nutrients.
The Stool Corner: Sorry, I have to do this as your poop tells you a great deal with how your body is functioning. I promise, no pictures! 1hr after awaking- Dark brown, smelly, curly and floating bits! Good bye toxins….YAY!
I then jumped into the shower for 16-20 minutes of Hydrotherapy. One minute of Hot plus one minutes of Cold for a total of ten times each.
I was feeling absolutely amazing after my shower so I decided to get my Car washed as this is something that always makes me happy. After all a clean car is a happy car and a happy car is a happy Nate.
I packed a cooler full of juices and Tara and I drove to Brantford to spend Easter with my family. Even though the traffic slowed us down around Oakville, Q107 had a special broadcast going, “The Top 107 Classic Rock songs of all time.” If I wasn’t on the way to see family I could have removed the T-Tops and sat in traffic all day listening to great music in a clean happy car. Sorry Tara, I know that isn’t your idea of fun!
The sun was shining bright for the majority of the day, the air was warm and the time spent with family was amazing as always! Sitting out in the backyard and catching up is exactly what I needed. No stress and I wasn’t thinking about what work I needed to accomplish before Monday morning.
On the way home I started to feel rather tired partly because I was up since 5 am but also from the juice feasting. Tara and I made it home and watched a few TV shows that were PVR’d and I fell asleep quite easily!
